Ten years ago I spend a few days on Tory Island, a small island north of county Donegal, Ireland. Tory Island is a remote island with two villages, East town and West Town, and has about 250 inhabitants. Staying on this island was an experience that kept intriguing me, although I never had the chance to go back… After my divorce I couldn’t find the negatives from my trip anymore, I considered them lost forever. Until today! I found the negs on the bottom of a box full of stuff I wanted to throw out. Happy me! I started scanning immediately!
Here is a preview of the series, more to come!

According to Wikipedia:“Wanderlust is a loanword from German to English that designates a strong desire for or impulse to wander, or, in modern usage, to travel and to explore the world”

I like this word. It describes the strong desire to travel I often feel. It sounds romantic, yet it has the emphasis on the word “Wander”, which is a bit restless (just like me). My best friend pointed me out to this word. When he told me about this word I started to think, trying to remember all the images I have taken, or haven’t taken, that express the feeling this word represents.
This is one images that expresses exactly that feeling, at least it does for me.
It is an old picture, I made the image in the early nineties while travelling on my own through Ireland. Donegal, to be precise. Driving through the rain, in my rental, dramatic landscape in front of me… Ilford HP5 and a Nikon FM2 with 35 mm F2,0 did the trick. Nostalgia, to say the least… Makes me wander, again, or still, or always. I have a long way ahead of me. I wander where it will take me…
